Dubai-based Al-Arabiya television reported on Monday that a shadowy group calling itself "Fedayeen of Islam" claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing of the Marriott Hotel in the Pakistan's capital Islamabad, which killed at least 53 people. The head of the interior ministry, Rehman Malik, meanwhile disclosed that the president, prime minister and military chiefs had planned to have dinner at the hotel at the time it was bombed, but the venue was changed at the last minute. The management of the Marriott, however, has denied this.
