Thousands of lawyers went back to the streets in Pakistan on Thursday to demand the reinstatement of judges deposed by former President Musharraf. Their new agitation follows the break-up of the ruling coalition over this very matter earlier this week: The Pakistan People’s Party had not shown much enthusiasm for restoring the judges so Nawaz Sharif’s Muslim League left the government. At the same time, however, on Wednesday several of the deposed judges returned to work in Karachi.
