Comedian and journalist Ahmed Al-Basheer and a troupe of performers have been attacking the Islamic State terrorist organization with satire, making fun of Jihadists and religious fundamentalism on an internet show.
The Albasheer Show can only be seen on the internet. Every edition gets hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube. The troupe of exile Iraqis produce the show in the Jordanian capital Amman, financing it out of their own pockets. So far, no TV station has dared to broadcast a show that sends up any and every authority in the region. The comedians make just as much fun of fundamentalists as they do of corrupt officials.
