Soundscape 100

Well, as the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end..."

And that is especially true this week as we say a fond farewell to regular, weekly productions of Soundscape 100, a programme which has, in one form or another, been a feature of DW broadcasts for the last four decades.

But to quote another saying, "the show must go on" and in true showbiz style, that's exactly what we're going to do in the next half hour; present a carefully chosen selection of new German releases to hit the Top 100. After the charts were dominated last week with music from TV casting shows, it's nice to see a little bit more balance in this week's singles chart...but heavyweights such as RTL Supertalent and The Voice of Germany aren't completely absent as we've got new single releases from Jean-Michel Aweh and Michael Lane on the way.

It'll forever remain a mystery why German pop singer Oceana waited some seven months to release a follow up single to Endless Summer, the official anthem for the 2012 UEFA soccer championships. That track was heard all over Europe during last year's football season, seemingly a perfect promo opportunity for Oceana to build her reputation outside Germany's borders. Sadly, it wasn't to be; this week sees the appropriately titled Say Sorry limp onto the Top 100.

We've also got brand new music from Sido on the way from his all-new greatest hits album and a live track from Tim Bendzko who's featured in this month's edition of German Pop.

And to finish...well, could this be Gavin's favourite song of all time?
