The offshore industry is booming. By 2030, up to 8,000 new wind turbines are to go up along the country’s North Sea coast.
On Course - Exploiting Wind Energy
An offshore wind park in the North Sea is to be built without feed-in subsidies for the first time, in a sign that renewable energy is becoming more competitive. Both the environment and consumers are likely to benefit.
The Netherlands has opened the world's second largest offshore wind farm, with 150 turbines spinning in action in the North Sea, substantially reducing the country's carbon footprint and enhancing its energy security.
Europeans are used to seeing wind turbines everywhere. In the countryside and even in the sea. Europe has over 11 gigawatts of offshore wind energy. But while here it's something normal, Americans are just starting out. The east coast plays host to the United States' first ever offshore wind farm.
