South African police replaced the lead detective on the Oscar Pistorius case on Thursday, after it emerged that the initial investigator faced attempted murder charges. Pistorius is charged with murdering his girlfriend.
A spokesman for the prosecuting authority Oscar Pistorius had "no prospects of success" with his appeal to South Africa's top court. The Olympian was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend in 2013.
State lawyers have said they will oppose Oscar Pistorius' bid to appeal for a lesser conviction after he was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend. The Constitutional Court would be the athlete's final legal recourse.

Oscar Pistorius has been granted bail at the onset of his sentencing for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The case will be heard in April 2016.
