New German TV Channel Launched in US

The ProSieben Sat.1 Group launched a German-language TV channel in the United States on Tuesday targeted at an estimated one million German speakers. The channel, ProSiebenSat.1 Welt, which is broadcast via Echostar Communication's DISH Network, will present a selection of the best programs from the group's four channels -- Sat.1, Pro-Sieben, Kabel 1 and N24 -- and will include in-house TV movies, series, sitcoms, magazine formats and shows produced by the group. The channel will also show two games live from the Bundesliga, Germany's first division football league, every week. The general interest channel will also broadcast special news programs aimed at the German-speaking American audience.
