Authorities in El Salvador are pinning their hopes on a fish to stop the spread of the Zika virus. Sambo fish feast on the larvae of mosquitoes, including those carrying the virus.
Rights group Human Rights Watch says Brazil needs to tackle the root causes of the Zika outbreak to avoid a recurrence. It says far too many people still live in conditions that favor the spead of the virus.
Myanmar has detected its first case of the Zika infection. A pregnant foreign woman has been diagnosed with the mosquito-borne virus.
Health officials say the number of pregnant women with the Zika virus has doubled in a week. The virus has been linked to babies being born with smaller than normal brains and is spreading through the Americas.
Two US residents, both of whom recently traveled abroad, have tested positive for the tropical Zika virus. The virus is causing alarm in a number of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
