One of Tenerife's most famous architects, Virgilio Gutierrez, designed José Angel Marrero's house in a vacant lot in a narrow and busy street in downtown Santa Cruz. It measures a whopping 600 square meters.
Dozens of tourists were evacuated by helicopter Thursday from shelters at the top of a volcano on Spain's Tenerife island where they spent the night after being plucked from two cable cars that stopped mid-air.
Tourists are visiting Spain in record numbers. One reason for that is the recent terrorist attacks in previously popular vacation spots like Turkey and North Africa. The travel boom has helped cut unemployment.
