Britain has announced a revised counterterrorism strategy that aims to disrupt terrorist threats earlier. The strategy comes amid reports that dozens of convicted extremists will be released from prison this year.
British Prime Minister Theresa May has called for national unity, exactly a year ahead of Britain leaving the EU. May was speaking during a whistle-stop tour that took in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Police now say at least seven people have died and dozens of others have been injured in attacks on London Bridge and in Borough Market. Three attackers in a van mowed down pedestrians before starting a stabbing spree.
UK domestic intelligence has arrested two men over plans to kill Prime Minister May, local media has said. At the same time, an independent review found that the terror attack in Manchester might have been avoided.
