A fire broke out at Dresden’s central station on Wednesday damaging the station's roof and leading to massive train delays. Police discovered the outbreak of a fire in the roof around 10:45 in the morning and firefighters battled the flames for half an hour before getting the fire under control. The entire station was evacuated and at least 30 trains were delayed as a result. Police believe construction workers in the roof may have caused the blaze and are investigating charges of negligence. The station, built in 1898, suffered major damage during the fire bombing of Dresden in WWII and only the steel structures remained. It was rebuilt several years later.
