MAN Agrees Funding for Polish Factory

German industrial group MAN said on Tuesday that it had signed an agreement with the Polish government and would invest between 90-100 million euros ($111-123 million) to build a truck assembly plant near Krakow in the south of the country. The Polish government has agreed to invest 12.9 million euros between 2006 and 2008, the Polish Economy Minister Jacek Piechota was quoted as saying by the PAP agency. MAN, which announced the choice of the site in Niepolomice near Krakow on Aug. 3, said the factory would provide employment for 650 people and would produce 15,000 heavy goods vehicles per year. MAN had been deciding between the Polish site and a rival location in Kosice, Slovakia.
