The official countdown to the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro has begun with the lighting of the Olympic flame in Greece. This kicked off the torch relay leading up to the start of the Olympics in early August.

Rome has unveiled a package worth 5.3 billion euros ($5.9 billion) backing up its bid for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The plans include the use of historic sites such as the Colosseum.
