Why alien eucalyptus trees have caused havoc in Cameroon

Vast swathes of territory in Cameroon are used to farm eucalyptus trees - either for timber or for electricity poles. Many people have come to rely on farming the trees as their primary source of income. But eucalyptus needs large amounts of water, and the result was a water crisis and drops in crop yields. A local initiative is now hoping to replace eucalyptus trees with native ones.
