Genocide hunters

When the bloodshed ended in Rwanda 20 years ago, some of the biggest instigators of the genocide fled to Europe. One couple in France has made it their mission to bring those hiding on French soil to justice.

On Monday (07.04.2014) Rwanda has held solemn commemorations to mark the 20 year anniversary of the country's genocide. Many survivors who took part in commemorations are still suffering from the trauma of the massacres that left nearly a million dead.

The events also showed the festering anger that still exists on the issue, as a diplomatic row broke out over renewed allegations of French complicity in the genocide.

Every April for 20 years now, Rwandan-born Dafroza Gauthier is reminded of her country's genocide. Dafroza lost her mother in the mass killings that took place back then.

She and her husband have made it their mission to hunt down those responsible for the Rwandan genocide and bring them to justice. Read more about Dafroza's personal story here.
