More than 190 buildings and open spaces are lit up in Berlin. The event expects to attract some 2.2 millon tourists to the German capital.
Over the years, there has been a surge in the popularity of Indian food in the city. Tourists and locals are drawn to its many restaurants for experiences ranging from trendy and modern to typically traditional.
Tourism in Berlin is booming. But not everybody is happy about it. Too many parties, too much waste, people groan. Nobody is shouting for a cutoff yet, but DW columnist Gero Schliess recommends prompt action.
The only German museum outside of Germany remembers the famous poet, who spent some time here to take a break from his life in Weimar. His Italy visit has become symbolic for the German’s love of Italy.
The German capital is hosting two festivals of lights right now. This year, "Berlin Illuminated" and "Festival of Lights" will run from September 29 until October 15.
