Krämerbrücke bridge in Erfurt
February 13, 2017Advertisement
The Krämerbrücke is 120 meters long and 18 meters broad. On this space 32 houses were built close together. At some point in history there were as many as 62 houses! The bridge was built in 1325 and some 150 years later was expanded to the width of today's bridge. Many merchants sell their wares here. Visitors can buy handmade souvenirs in the pottery-making, wood carving and glass blowing workshops. Specialist shops offer regional and exotic products. Once a year, to mark the Krämerbücke Festival, the bridge and the old town center transform into a medieval market which is celebrated with street theater and music performances.
