Mexican authorities have arrested a key drug cartel lord.
Turkish troops captured a strategic hill near Afrin as Turkey intensified its offensive against the Syrian Kurdish YPG group. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed again to "clean" Turkey's entire border with Syria.
The Syrian regime has captured Sinjar, in Idlib province, and opened the way toward a rebel-held airbase. The government lost Sinjar to rebels in 2015 and started an operation to recapture it in December.
The future fate of two members of the "Islamic State" group nicknamed "The Beatles" remains unclear. Amid calls for them to be extradited, the pair are currently being held by Syrian rebels who captured them.
The Saudi-led coalition fighting rebels in Yemen has pledged to reopen the country's main airport, as well as two main ports. The blockade was imposed earlier this month in response to a missile fired at Riyadh.
