The controversial head of ride-hailing service Uber has resigned after shareholders told him he had become a liability to the company he founded. Travis Kalanik is stepping down as CEO, but will still retain a majority of Uber's voting stock.
Uber has booked massive full-year losses, a technology site has reported. The company is struggling to recover from a series of scandals, as well as increased regulation by state and municipal authorities.
The ride-sharing company Uber says it will investigate an engineer's claims of sexual harassment and sexism at the firm. CEO Travis Kalanick said that anyone guilty of the described behavior would be dismissed.
The Berlin-headquartered start-up says its public listing will help it dominate the growing online meal delivery market. The food ordering platform features more than 150,000 restaurants in 40 countries.
The home-sharing site says two rounds of fresh funding over the last six months will give it "operational flexibility." The peer-to-peer start-up is now valued at $31 billion (29 billion euros).
