What should be learnt from the financial crisis?
The Taliban claimed responsibility for a deadly attack at a hotel in Kabul. Security forces ended the standoff after more than 12 hours of fighting. On Saturday evening, gunmen stormed the Intercontinental Hotel, killing at least six people.
Romania saw renewed protests against legislation which critics say will hinder the fight against high-level corruption. There were scuffles with police as an estimated 50 thousand demonstrated in the capital Bucharest.
Turkey dispatched troops to the Afrin region in northern Syria in an offensive against the US-backed Kurdish YPG. Ankara calls the military campaign 'Operation Olive Branch' – and says it wants to create a 'safe zone' at the Syrian border.
