EU plans to abolish visa requirements for ex-Yugoslavs such as Serbs, but retain them for Bosnian Muslims, are drawing fierce criticism. The European Commission says the plans to lift the restrictions on citizens of Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia are a step toward establishing visa-free travel in Europe. But socialist and green parliamentarians say the new rules would formalise ethnic divisions in the region.
