Inside Europe - Jewish athletes compete in Berlin

Michael ScaturroJuly 30, 2015

The European Maccabi Games are currently underway in Berlin. Some 2000 athletes are competing in 90 sports ranging from tennis to chess. The Games, also known as the Jewish Olympics, were started in 1932 as a reaction to anti-Semitism in sports. The first event was held in Tel Aviv. For some, their staging here in Germany is a sign of hope for Europe’s Jews. Michael Scaturro reports from Berlin.
