World in Progress: Change to Japan's pacifism clause

In Japan, controversial laws to expand the role of the military were recently passed in the lower house of parliament which would enable the country to play a greater role in international security. Article 9 of the constitution limits Japan's ability to have military forces and has become a keystone of Japan's security policy since WWII. Protesters see the tradition of pacifism under threat.
