An estimated 1000 people from Tajikistan have joined the so-called ‘Islamic State.’ Many of them were lured by false promises. One Tajik recruit who managed to escape spoke to DW about his experience.
Beirut has begun strikes against "Islamic State" positions near its border with Syria. The move is a precarious one, as it places the US-backed army tenuously on the same side as Hezbollah and Bashar al-Assad.
Interpol has received an apparent list of 173 potential suicide bombers for the Islamic State - which includes the name of one German. The list was reportedly recovered by Iraqi troops during the battle for Mosul.
The US is increasingly moving away from its anti-Assad course. Syria's president appears increasingly confident, announcing that conditions will apply to governments that seek to rejig their relationships with Damascus.
Abu Khaled al-Cambodi, once a key figure in the so-called Islamic State, now wants Australia's help. He has spent the past 10 months in a maximum security prison in Turkey.
