Since October the Iraqi embassy in Berlin issued nearly 1,500 travel permits for the return of their citizens. Every week a plane leaves from Berlin's Tegel airport to Iraq. DW's Charlotte Potts reports from the departure gate.
Turkish forces will target Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria and possibly Iraq, Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said. The threat comes as military and rebel allies captured the Syrian Kurdish enclave of Afrin.
The controversial EU refugee agreement with Turkey has been running for two years. But there are still several hitches, with particularly the question of funding still not completely settled.

Just as it did the previous year, Germany handled more asylum applications in 2017 than all fellow EU members combined. The way Germany interprets the Dublin agreement suggests the discrepancy is set to continue.
