Iraqi forces have launched an offensive to liberate Tal Afar from the so-called "Islamic State." The town is one of the last pockets of IS-held territory in Iraq - after Mosul was liberated in July.
The remains of 38 Indian workers who were murdered in Iraq by the "Islamic State" group have been flown back to India. The government there has faced criticism for initially not confirming the killings.
The men had been building a hospital in Mosul when they were kidnapped in 2014. Opposition lawmakers in New Delhi criticized the government for letting relatives think their loved ones were still alive.
Iraq's premier has warned militants of the self-styled "Islamic State" to surrender "or be killed." Iraqi forces have made significant gains over the past year, culminating in the liberation of Mosul.
The Iraqi military has begun its latest offensive against the so-called "Islamic State," weeks after liberating the city of Mosul. IS still occupies territory around Mosul, but its "caliphate" has effectively collapsed.
