As UN observers in Syria investigate whether chemical weapons have been used in the country's two-year civil war, a video has appeared on the internet. It claims to show the victims of a government gas attack.
The Syrian regime has captured Sinjar, in Idlib province, and opened the way toward a rebel-held airbase. The government lost Sinjar to rebels in 2015 and started an operation to recapture it in December.
The war in Syria may be coming to a close, but many young Syrian men have little hope of returning, especially those who fled to avoid fighting. In Beirut, DW's Anchal Vohra met three such men who spoke candidly.
The UN says 137 children under siege in the rebel-held suburb of Eastern Ghouta require immediate evacuation. Five children there are reported to have already died from a lack of medical care.
Russia has blocked a US-drafted resolution to renew a mandate of the body investigating the use of chemical weapons in Syria. A rival, Russian-made motion was also blocked, leaving the future of the probe in question.
