International Media Studies

Students will acquire the knowledge and skills that are essential for a journalistic career. They will be able to meet specific occupational requirements with expertise and communicative independence. Graduates from the Master’s Program will be able to take on a challenging role as expert or manager in the area of media.

The program is intended for students from around the world who are looking for a leading position in the field of journalism or in the communications sector. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and more than one year of professional experience in a media-related field.

The Master’s Program is a joint project from the University of Bonn, the Bonn Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster with its headquarters in Bonn.

The Master’s Program is characterized by its modern combination of methods. It is designed in such a way that the theoretical knowledge is always applicable to pieces of work, radio reports and articles, and is applied to current topics and journalistic questions.

Students will be given a lot of room for their individual needs and interests. The average course size between 15 and 20 participants creates the ideal conditions for learning. Students will regularly evaluate the Master’s Program and its teachers, in order to implement suggestions quickly.

Lecturers possess a first-class academic education and have a representative reputation in the area of media science. They are also highly distinguished by their many years of experience in the areas of journalism and media.
