Germany’s political deadlock is inching closer to being resolved as the Social Democrats, or SPD, and Conservatives prepare to embark on controversial coalition talks. After the September elections, the SPD ruled out forming another Grand Coalition with Angela Merkel’s CDU and the CSU. But SPD leader, Martin Schulz, then did a U-turn on talks.
