Protesters are demanding the removal of a statue of Cecil Rhodes. The 19th century mining tycoon and colonialist was one of Britain’s most successful businessmen. He built the De Beers diamond company in southern Africa; and he left much of his fortune to Oxford University. Thousands of gifted people have studied at Oxford with his scholarship, including Bill Clinton.
