Inside Europe: A fail for French literacy

In France, one in fifteen people have difficulty filling out a cheque or understanding the cooking instructions on the back of a packet. It’s one of the worst literacy rates in Europe. President Macron has made tackling this problem one of his priorities. He’s picked a former university director, rather than a politician, as the Education Minister to push through reforms.
