Despite massive protests from animal protection activists, Malta has voted to continue the controversial springtime hunt of migratory birds. As a result, many thousands of migratory birds might once again be killed over the skies of Malta.
In the wake of the Paradise Papers leaks, many locals in Malta feel frustrated and are calling on the European Union to come to the rescue. Daiva Repeckaite reports from the island.
The gesture comes as MEPs passed a resolution questioning the rule of law and press freedom in Malta. Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed by a car bomb in October after years of exposing political graft and corruption.

The European Parliament will send a team to Malta to probe how rule of law is applied, as well as corruption and money laundering, a senior MEP says. It's a response to the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
