More than 10,000 Chinese live in Hungary - more than in any other Central Europe country. The often talked about hostility against foreigners in Hungary does not seem to affect the Chinese.
The Hungarian government has acknowledged that the Chinese can help the weak Hungarian economy. That's because Beijing wants to turn Budapest into an economic bridgehead to Europe. So, the Chinese in Hungary are not affected by racism, but they are not really integrated either. They have their own newspapers and TV channels. A big Asia Center with modern shops supplies them with everything they need to live but they do at least have their own bilingual school now.
