'The Hammer' has hung up his boots, but hasn't lost that fighting spirit. After winning Germany's honorary football ambassador award, he reflects on his career experiences.

But for Hitzlsperger, life is more than just football, and he's been involved in a number of projects against xenophobia and racism. Now he's received the 2015 German Football Ambassadors Honorary Award. He talked to us about his efforts against discrimination and his plans to begin working as a journalist.
