Herring and Sea Salmon Favourite Fish

According to the Hamburg Fish Information Centre, the Germans' favourite fish are Herring and Sea Salmon. These fish dominate the German fish market with 50 percent, followed by tuna with around 11 percent, and Salmon with 8.4 percent. Cod, endangered in European waters due to overfishing, is less popular, reaching just under 4 percent of the German fish market.1.94 million tons of fish were consumed in 2001, the Information Centre reported, 88 percent of which were imported to the country.
