Program Coordinator, fesmedia Africa, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Windhoek, Namibia
Since 2009 Sophie Haikali is the program coordinator at fesmedia Africa, the African media project of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung based in Windhoek, Namibia. She coordinates research activities such as the African Media Barometer, a self-assessment exercise of media landscapes in 28 African countries, and the commissioning of papers. She is further involved in policy campaigns supported by fesmedia Africa, such as the African Platform on Access to Information (APAI), which promotes the right to information in Africa. Haikali holds a Bachelor's degree in media studies from the University of Namibia and a Master's in media culture from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
