At the EU-Turkey summit in Brussels, Ankara has offered to become Europe's migrant firewall. Turkey wants to take back asylum seekers and slow the flow of future migrants. But it's making huge demands in exchange for its help.
Bulgaria plans to station 600 troops on its border with Turkey to quell any potential flow of migrants. Bulgaria's defense minister said the EU's failure to stop migrants crossing the Mediterranean justified the move.
Alexander Gauland, the top candidate for the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany, has told DW there should be a clear path for repatriating migrants. Accepting refugees is not in Germany's interest, he said.
Recent numbers of migrants arriving on European shores suggest shifting migration routes. While numbers in Italy fell sharply in July and August, Spain is experiencing a peak in refugee numbers.
The museum's special exhibit, entitled "Two Million Years of Migration," shows that ultimately we're all migrants. It also reveals that today's migration routes are uncannily similar to those from thousands of years ago.
