The Taxpayers‘ Association has warned against the German government’s planned amnesty for tax evaders. Association President Karl-Heinz Däke said in a newspaper interview that it’s important to avoid the impression that the honest person is the dumb one. Instead of a general amnesty, Däke has demanded that tax evaders who return their undeclared money to Germany must turn themselves in to avoid penalties. Däke also doubts that the German treasury would get back 100 billion euro in illegal funds through the amnesty.
