Max Prosa is a story-teller and an ardent poet, and he's convinced that a very special energy is created when playing the guitar - a spark which is infectious.

German singer-songwriter Max Prosa taps into neo-folk, and writes lyrics that belie a wisdom older than his 21 years. It's rare enough that a young German singer points to Bob Dylan as a musical influence. There's also a Cat Stevens sound in there. And for German ears, some Rio Reiser thrown in.

Max Prosa's own story began in Berlin, where, at the age of six, he received his first musical instrument from his mother - a concert guitar. And just like Dylan before him, he later made the inevitable switch to electric. He also began writing song lyrics, where he could express his moods and feelings.

After studying physics and philosophy for a while, he turned his aspirations to where his passions really lie: in music. That led him to clubs, and eventually, to PopCamp - a training program for up-and-coming musicians sponsored by the German Music Council - where he could learn the nitty-gritty of making it in the music business.

Max Prosa's distinctive voice reaches a nationwide audience later this summer with the release of his debut album, a record he'll have ample opportunity to promote with a string of support appearances for major German artists such as Clueso.
