Call this one the match that refused to believe the hype. Germany and Poland cancel one another out in a less than scintillating 0-0 draw, where the two defenses came up trumps. The result was a yawner.
Poland failed to impress but do enough to get past the underdogs from Northern Ireland 1-0. Despite the mismatch, the "white and green army" celebrated their team on its maiden run in Europe's football elite.
Throughout Germany, soccer is all-encompassing. But in the town of Heidelberg, nestled between round-ball strongholds Stuttgart and Frankfurt, a forgotten ‘traditional’ sport is slowly trying to change the landscape.
