US forces said they had killed dozens of "Islamic State" members in a strike on training camps in Yemen’s al Bayda governorate. The US has upped its number of strikes in Yemen as the civil war drags on.
The UN has added the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen to its annual list of shame for killing hundreds of children in 2016. Saudi Arabia rejected the report and said it took effort to avoid civilian casualties.
Riyadh has said it would not oppose an UN inquiry into war crimes in Yemen, but stressed such a probe would face "tremendous obstacles" over access. The Saudi Arabia-led coalition is accused of indiscriminate bombing.
Yemen has found itself in the middle of a humanitarian catastrophe. Even as the country battles with crumbling infrastructure, hunger and disease, the Saudi Arabia-led military intervention continues.
