Iran has enormous pent-up demand for modernization of its infrastructure. Roads, water and power lines as well as housing badly need to be upgraded. But it's an opportunity for foreign investors. Especially from Germany.
President Donald Trump has again waived nuclear sanctions against Iran, but warned it will be the last time unless a stronger follow-up agreement is reached. Germany has said it will "remain committed" to the agreement.
Germany-wide police raids have been carried out on suspected Iranian spies. Iran has been linked in the past to spying, assassinating dissidents and targeting Israelis.
The US president has threatened not to renew sanction waivers that make up a key part of the deal. Tehran says it will "not accept any change" to the internationally recognized agreement.
Iran's foreign minister says Iran's agreement to the nuclear deal depends on "full compliance from the US," following talks in Brussels. The talks took place ahead of the United States' sanctions decision due Friday.
