German Car Market Showing Signs of Recovery

After a steep fall in demand in January, the German car market is beginning to show signs of recovery with the number of new car registrations slipping by just two percent in February, according to the German Association of the Automobile Industry (VDA). The registration figure, used as a measure for domestic demand in the sector, stood at 225,000 in February, down 2 percent from the numbers the year before, according to the VDA. "Following the weak start to the year in January, there was still no sign of spring in the German auto industry in February, but the ice is beginning to melt," the VDA statement said. In January and February combined, the number of new car registrations fell by seven percent to 433,200 vehicles.
