These lions spent their lives in circuses in South America, but after governments in Peru and Colombia outlawed the use of wild animals for entertainment, an animal rights charity helped organise their release into a wildlife sanctuary in Africa.
More than 30 abused circus lions from Peru and Colombia are being sent to a private reserve in South Africa. The lions lived for years in horrible conditions.
Following its economic success, Ethiopia has been dubbed the "African Lion." But the current drought and a downturn in growth have taken their toll. A recent conference in Munich aimed at attracting investors.
