Fall Highlight – Home grown German terror - ke 26.09.2008

Daniel SteadOctober 21, 2008

DER BAADER MEINHOF KOMPLEX is arguably the most important German film this Fall. Already nominated to be Germany's entry for the 2009 Oscar race, it is based on the nonfiction book of the same name by Stefan Aust. Germany’s number one producer, Bernd Eichinger wrote the screenplay. It tells the dramatic story of the period from 1967 to the so-called "German Autumn: of 1977, when left-wing terrorists shook the foundations of the West German state. It stars a who's who of the German film scene: Moritz Bleitreu as Andreas Baader, Martina Gedeck as Ulrike Meinhof and Johanna Wokalek as Gudrun Ensslin, the key members of the terror group the Red Army Faction.
