Expedition to the heart of Germany
April 20, 2010People from all walks of life and all corners of the country – from the city of Kiel to Lake Chiemsee – talk about their private and professional lives, their hopes and dreams, with DW reporters who originally come from all over the world. They help you understand what makes these people tick, while our reporters' unique perspectives shed light on what characterizes life in Germany and what constitutes the German identity
An Angolan meets an alpine farmer; a Yemeni interviews a hairdresser; a Chinese reporter profiles a tax official: Three examples of inter-cultural encounters of the friendly kind. Deutsche Welle reporters from all over the world embark on a journey to the heart of Germany.
The result is our 'Faces of Germany' series: Portraits of people from all walks of life. Our 40 protagonists were selected according to statistical criteria, to ensure that they represented a cross-section of German society.
These insights into Germany and its people are available in 24 languages, from Arabic to Chinese and Russian. They can be read as articles at DW-World, complete with picture galleries and questionnaires that reveal everything from personal philosophies to favorite dishes.
With this project, Deutsche Welle is opening a door onto Germany and the people who live here.
