euro|topics speed dating with Europe's media landscapes

hosted by euro|topics/Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (bpb)

How do Turkish media create enemy images and reinforce them in readers’ minds? Why do Polish journalists (almost) unanimously mourn the anniversary of the Smolensk plane crash? What role do the Balkan wars of the 1990s play in articles by Croatian columnists today? Each European country has its own commentary culture. In this panel correspondents of the euro|topics press review will explain how they interpret, select and translate topics dealt with in the opinion sections of their host countries’ media for a European audience.

Every day the euro|topics editors and correspondents put together a free daily press review featuring relevant and incisive commentaries selected from hundreds of media in the EU member states, Switzerland and Turkey. In this process they extract media debates from national and politically-tinged bubbles and make them understandable for readers across Europe. euro|topics is published in English, French, German and Turkish and also features a database with background information on roughly 500 print and online media as well as an overview of the media landscape in 30 European countries.
