Many women played leading roles in the massive protests that swept through the Egypt and Tunisia. And those women are now calling on their Muslim sisters in Europe to take up the cause of emancipation, too.
The revolutions in the Arab world brought about widespread political and social change - including the role of women. Female activists, both with and without headscarves, joined hands with their male counterparts to rally and protest. Through blogs, they relentlessly fought to expose torture and poor leadership, hoping in part to reach the eyes and ears of women in Europe, too. They want women in countries like Germany and France to break free from stereotypes and take an active role in society.
