Euromaxx - Highlights of the Week

On this edition of Euromaxx Highlights: A Berlin exhibition pays tribute to dogs as a motif in the arts. The museum even lets pet owners bring their four-legged friends along to enjoy the show. Mountaineer Reinhold Messner opens his sixth Mountain Museum and we take a look around the northern German island of Sylt.

Dogs in Art

Man's best friend has been an inspiration to artists for centuries, and now a new art exhibition all about dogs has opened up in Berlin. And if your dog also happens to be an art aficionado then he or she is welcome to come along.

The Messner Mountain Museum

Mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner has been working on his Mountain Museum project since 2003. The sixth and last building to complete the ensemble is located in Alto Adige in South Tyrol and was designed by British star architect Zaha Hadid.

London Calling

The British capital is in among Europe’s most popular tourist destinations. One of the best ways to enjoy London's sights is by boat. Euromaxx took a trip down the River Thames and met up with guide book author David Fathers.

Cranach Anniversary

The German town of Wittenberg was the home of revered Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach the Younger. 2015 marks the 500th anniversary of his birth. To celebrate this historic event, Wittenberg is putting on a multimedia spectacle.

Sunny Sylt

The island of Sylt is connected to the mainland by a dam and rail service. Despite its somewhat faded jet set image the island is best known for its beautiful sunny beaches and is popular with windsurfers and nature lovers from all walks of life.
