Padua is one of the oldest cities in Italy, founded in the 12th century B.C.. It was once a flourishing center of trade. The citys many historic buildings attest to its former wealth. It hosts the renowned 800 year old University of Padua, also famous for having had Galileo Galilei as its lecturer.
